We spent the week of Thanksgiving in Ireland on a family vacation. Had a great time! More to come, but for now I'm posting 4 videos that Aaron put together of the 1st four days of our trip. He did a great job!! :-)
Day #1 includes packing, a night over in Dublin and our drive to Killarney and Dingle.

Day #2 we drove the Dingle Peninsula, did a little hike up a mountain off of Connor's Pass, and walked the town of Dingle.

Day #3 was a trip to the Skellig Ring and Valentia Island. We also drove part of the Ring of Kerry but didn't see anything because of the fog.

Sigtuna and Skokloster Castle
Yesterday, we headed out for a day trip to Sigtuna and Skokloster Castle. Sigtuna is one of the oldest towns in Sweden and oozes charm.

We took a little walk to the top of a hill in town, which had beautiful views of the lake and town.

I think this is hilarious...this stroller is great, but I'm not 100% certain it was meant for off road hiking.
Within the city, there are ruins from a number or churches.
This is the only active church (and I think the oldest building still used) in Sigtuna and it was completed in 1255!
From Sigtuna, we headed to Skokloster Slott (Castle). It is a REALLY beautiful castle on Lake Malaren.
This week was fall break for all of the school in Stockholm, so the castle had special activities for children. Ben had fun coloring...
While Sophia painted a nightcap. Imagine....over half of the fabric was covered in PINK!

Lake Malaren starts in Stockholm at the Baltic and continues inland. We even saw someone kayaking in November on the lake!

Skansen Fall Visit
I went with the kids to Skansen again on Friday. This time, we were there with two other families from Sophia's school as school was out for the day. We headed straight to the animals and spent most of our day there. Everyone had a good time!
I had to add the owl this time because Sophia kept telling me that she did NOT like the owl's smile. He is kinda freaky looking!!

Halloween Fun
I bought costumes for the kids when we were home in September without knowing if they would even be able to wear them since Halloween isn't too big of a deal here. As it turned out, we had plenty of Halloween fun and the kids got dressed up three times over the weekend!

Ben, the monkey (or as Sophia always said, Ben is going to be a monkey with a banana in his pocket!!).

We started by carving pumpkins with a friend the weekend before. The kids had a good time drawing their faces and Sophia even had fun pulling out the inside.
The first celebration was at Sophia's school. Ben got dressed up for the event, also.

The next day, we were invited to a party at the American Embassy in Stockholm. There was trick-or-treating and a nice party afterwards.
My friend, Pippi Longstocking (aka Lorena), and her kiddo, Prince Baby invited us. Their family dressed in a Swedish theme - pretty cute idea. You can't tell, but my costume was a Happy Halloween t-shirt. Really creative...maybe next year :-)
Finally, we went trick-or-treating to a handful of businesses and some homes in Stockholm that a women I met through the American Women's Club of Stockholm organized. Fun times!

October in Review
We had lots of fun in October, but I didn't keep up on the blog...so this here is October in Review...
We often start weekend mornings with projects...this one got a little out of hand :-)
I promised the kids a picnic, but the weather turned, so we did an inside picnic instead.
Play-doh time!
Tekniska Museet - Part 2:
Aaron gave me a break one Sunday afternoon and took the kids to the Technical Museum. I was there with the kids in July, so we knew they would love it.
Go Pack!
Ben and I went to the Music Museum with a friend one day. Sophia had been there the week before on an excursion day for school and her teacher recommended it for Ben also. It was actually great for toddlers because most of the exhibits were interactive. I might have liked playing the drums even more than Ben :-)
In the middle of October two things happened. First, my kids started wearing full winter gear because it was so cold!
And second, it snowed on October 22nd!! It was so beautiful! I walk down this street every day on the way to/from Sophia's school and it was so nice covered in snow.
